Amigoscode’s AI Developer Video: Hope Beyond the Headline
A review of Amigoscode’s case for developer judgment in the AI era: practical advice, a worrying learning gap, and a headline that promises too much.
Amigoscode’s 18-minute video, published on September 15, 2026, has a reassuring title: “AI Replacing Developers Has Officially Failed.” I find its central argument more useful than that headline. Writing code is one part of software development; deciding what to build, understanding failures and taking responsibility for the result are the harder parts.
The strongest section concerns the learning ladder. Nelson argues that small fixes, simple endpoints and routine tests gave beginners a way into real systems. If AI takes those tasks, where does the next generation practise? That question deserves attention. Stanford’s revised August 2026 research documents weaker employment outcomes for young workers in AI-exposed occupations, without finding widespread economy-wide displacement. It supports concern, but does not establish that automating training tasks explains the pattern.
