OnePay Brings Money Data to AI: Fintech on October 12–13

OnePay connects financial data to AI assistants, AetherBridge announces multi-currency payments, and London hosts the next open banking debate on October 13–14.

Your next conversation about money could start with an AI assistant that can see your actual finances. OnePay's October 12 announcement leads this October 12–13 fintech briefing, alongside a new cross-border payments platform and London's scheduled Open Banking Expo. The connecting theme: financial tools are moving closer to the places where people already make decisions.

OnePay says its financial data is now accessible through an official app in ChatGPT, across free and paid tiers, and in Dots. The company describes access to balances, transactions, savings goals, credit history, loans and investment activity, with explicit consent and the option to revoke access. Its earlier connection required a more technical setup; this release aims to make connecting easier. For everyday users, the potential is more relevant budgeting conversations. The announcement concerns access to information; it does not establish that an assistant can move your money.

Also on October 12, AetherBridge announced a platform combining US dollars, euros, pounds, Mexican pesos and USDC with invoicing and payment tools. Its release describes traditional payment networks alongside blockchain transfers, targeting businesses and individuals, including freelancers and international teams. That could simplify dealing with clients in different currencies. However, the announcement alone does not establish actual transfer speeds, total costs or availability in every country. Those practical details matter more than the promise of a single dashboard.

For October 13, the focus turns to Open Banking Expo in London, scheduled for October 13–14. Open Banking Limited's published programme includes discussions about financial data, AI and the future organisation of the UK's open banking ecosystem. These are scheduled conversations, rather than confirmed product launches or policy decisions. The consumer question behind them is tangible: can connected financial services become more useful while leaving people in control of access?

Taken together, these developments suggest that fintech's next interface may be a conversation or a connected workflow. That is an editorial reading of the announcements and agenda, rather than proof that the promised benefits have arrived.
