Phishing Network Takedown, YouTube AI Labels and Protein Design

Microsoft reports action against a phishing marketplace, YouTube starts labeling AI-generated music, and researchers use AI tools to redesign protein-cutting enzymes.

Microsoft reports action against a major phishing marketplace

The Verge reports that Microsoft helped dismantle a phishing marketplace following an investigation with Japan's National Police Agency. Microsoft identified YAM Store and the CoGUI and Iron Man phishing kits. The company says the three collectively enabled more than a billion malicious messages targeting over 75,000 organizations worldwide since January 2026.

YouTube begins labeling AI-generated music

According to The Verge, YouTube began rolling out a Made with AI label on October 14 for music tracks altered or fully generated using AI. YouTube's guidance includes generative models used to create compositions and vocals. Music partners must disclose relevant use, and YouTube says it may consider other signals when an uploader does not provide that disclosure.

AI tools help redesign enzymes that cut proteins

Ars Technica's October 14 report describes researchers using AI-based protein design tools to rebuild enzymes around the catalytic cores of two types of protease. They replaced the remaining protein structures and tuned the resulting enzymes to cut specific proteins. The researchers demonstrated their effectiveness on proteins associated with neurological diseases, applying design tools to protein-cutting chemistry.
